The Big G auto service website is going to try to capture the fun and excitement of this years drag race season. You know it's smart to bring your car to Big G for routine service but there is a competitive side that gets unleashed on the weekends.

July 31, 2010 - Kurt got his car running with a different engine the other day and we decided to use Saturday  (Story continued)

July 17, 2010 - Drove to Benton and got there early for once and was able to make 3 time runs. (Story continued)

July 2, 2010 - Left work early to race mega bucks Footbrake race in Benton IL. Got there at 6:30 and still had time for 2 time runs 7.64 and 7.62. Round #1 got to race a super pro Nova and killed him with an on the brakes 7.63 on a 7.62 dial. I then put a 7.6 on the car and raced Dan Stone in Dave Sheir's Buick. Treed him and he missed a gear and round #3 here we come. Got a local boy this time with an old Ford Fairlane? and stayed on the gas to catch him but he broke out and I went 7.64 with some tire spin. Round #4 and right after doing a burnout had to shut the car off. The s-10 in front of my competitor made a big mess. I noticed it was going to be a while so I walked down the track to check it out. This was a cool one, his trans bellhousing broke and the whole trans spun around in a circle. The pan was facing the floor. Pretty sure he had an out of balance engine problem but he was mad and didn't want to hear it. He'll figure it out after about 3 more tranny's. After that clean up it was about 3:30 am and the track was getting cold. I redid the burnout, when I left I felt the tires hop 2 times and go. The car ran 7.64 on a 7.6 on a .518 light but the other guy  had a .515 light and ran 6.33 on 6.3 dial. I had alot of fun but was ready to go. So I aired up the tires and left Very tired so we got a hotel and stayed the night in Benton and drove home in the Saturday heat!

May 8, 2010 - A little windy and cold racing at gateway. brought the Malibu with 4- 75LB sand bags to keep it slower than 12.0. First pass with one bag in the trunk the car ran 12.04! 2nd time run the car went 12.12 but at the end of the pass the car was making a crazy noise and smelled like burnt wires. Upon inspection found it was all coming from the Alternator! Sheila wasn't there yet so I had her pick up an Alternator from O'reillys and bring it to the track. i had to borrow tools from Neil and find a 15/16" socket to get the pulley off since the O'Reilly alternator had the wrong pulley. I also had to borrow a cordless impact to get the nut loose. After getting all the tools together and getting the Alternator off Sheila had arrived with the new one. I got it together just in time for 1st round. By the way it was the original Alternator off my 85 ElCamino that had over 1000 passes on it! 1st round i cut a crappy light and lost with a 12.07 on a 12.04 dial. Round #2 ran 12.006 on a 12.06 dial but won on a double breakout. I added another sand bag and round #3 went 12.14 on a 12.06 dial. The other guy went red so i was still in. I removed the extra bag and left the 12.06 dial for round #4. I cut a crappy .087 light to Ted Lipka's .025 light and broke out with a 12.05. My night was over.

April 10, 2010 - Drove the Malibu to Benton and as usual got there late. Was able to make a time run behind PRO. Cot a .503 light and ran 7.69 right off the highway. 1st round I dialed 7.55 and won with a 7.67 on the brakes. The 2nd round I dialed up to 7.6 and cut a .517 light and ran 7.67 but got beat. The other guy had a .535 light but ran dead on his dial in. I probably should have dialed up since the car has been so consistent lately. I am just not used to that. Last year it was all over the place.

April 3, 2010 - Early in the week had carb problems with the 4 year old 700 Holley. Had a leak and a stripped ..... (fully story)
