April 3, 2010 - Early in
the week had carb problems with the 4 year old 700 Holley. Had a leak and a
stripped out hole in the main body. Removed the metering block to install a
helicoil and the whole front of the main body came off. The carb wa junk. Kurt
said I could use his 750. All I had to do was go to Ranken and get it. Tuesday
night I drive to Ranken and they are closed for spring break. Kurt had an old
650 main body laying around so I took all my 700 parts and put them on the 650.
The car was running Awesome. Went to the track Saturday and the 1st time run was
the fastest pass ever 11.789 @112mph WOW! Now I have to slow it down to
run 12.0. 2nd time run I left the car in drive and it shifted 1-2 at 5000rpm
then instantly 2-3 and it was in 3rd the whole way down the track and ran 11.80.
1st round I dialed 12.2 and planned to just let off in 3rd and lost with a
12.31. I bought back in with the goal of breaking out and making the fastest
pass ever. I broke out with another 11.8 on the 12.02 dial but the other guy
broke out worse so I won! 3rd round raced a 15 second s-10 and won by letting
off. 4th round I finally got a worthy opponent Aaron Hagen. I figured I had to
tree him to have a chance. I cut a .020 light and took off with terrible tire
spin which i could use. I stayed in it and ran 12.08 on a 12.02 and lost! Aaron
was dead on with an .031 light. Next week Benton if weather permits!
